I haven’t been disappointed by a Shari Lapena book since fate brought us together. Would the trend continue or is The End Of Her going to be our first disappointment as a couple?
Our relationship began with The Couple Next Door, a sultry fictional treat filled with deception, betrayal, and surprising twists with every turn of the page.
It was like the beginning of every relationship when your partner can do no wrong and every moment with that person is a delight.
But, as one of my favorite authors Tom Robbins says: “The challenge of life is not to love but to make love stay.”
We realize in relationships that not every moment can be like the beginning. Relationships change, they evolve, and often morph into something more stable if perhaps a little less exciting.
This happened with the Shari Lapena books that followed The Couple Next Door: Someone We Know, An Unwanted Guest, and A Stranger in the House. None were quite the unfamiliar fruit of that first encounter but all were a delicious reminder of my original choice.
So with the welcome feel of both familiarity and promise, I began The End Of Her.

The End of Her by Shari Lapena: Is It Worth The Read?
I talked about my initial fascination with Shari Lapena after having read The Couple Next Door — it was such a great author introduction and I wondered whether it could be topped.
But much like a Liane Moriarty or Elin Hilderbrand book, you realize that the appeal of a particular book may reveal a further affinity and long lasting relationship with the author.
Did I enjoy The End of Her as much as The Couple Next Door? I did not.
But did I speed through this book turning every page to see what was coming next?
I absolutely did. The End of Her was a joy to read and I highly recommend it.
