What To Do When You’re Procrastinating?

Richard Cummings

what-to-do-when-your-procrastinatingIf you’re wondering what you should do when you’re procrastinating, I might just have a quick answer for you.

You see, as I write this, it is the day after St. Patrick’s day.  Being part Irish, you might be able to guess why I would like to procrastinate right now after last nights’ activities.

How about you? What’s your reason for procrastinating?

I have many more things that I should be doing…marketing my SEO software, writing an article on one of many topics that I’ve jotted down, or preparing for the impending visit from a “friend” who is upset with me because she says that I was “flirty” last night.

My Condition

Richard Cummings

mild-ocd-essayThe word for it  currently escapes me.  (I think that it will come to me within two paragraphs).  But I am semi-it.

I haven’t even had two sips of coffee yet and I don’t know that the brain is turned on.  Although, when I was in bed, debating whether to arise, thoughts were rapid-fire but in a mellow feel good fashion, not frenetic.  That may be the perfect state.  In bed, all comfy, enjoying ideas a-flowing.  Perhaps I should go back.

Redneck Hats You Need

Richard Cummings

redneck-hatsAs I have been Crackle Barrel Travelin’ through the Southern States, I came across someone my many years in California nearly made me forget:  The Southern Redneck.

We often have a bit of fun with the notion of The Redneck, but they possess highly prized ideas which can be valuable to remember.  Things like:   Beer is good, even when it’s not imported.    Go for it-she’s a second cousin.  And, of course, you don’t need to finish high school when you can get your GED.

Beyond the iPad: The True Legacy of Steve Jobs

Richard Cummings

steve-jobs-legacyFor many, the legacy of Steve Jobs may be the device you hold in your hand or the computer on which you are reading this right now. But the true legacy of Steve Jobs is not one of technology, but of life.

In the many accounts of the life of Steve Jobs recently written, we read articles such as how Steve Jobs changed the way we interact with music and how Steve Jobs Told Us What We Needed Before We Knew. Certainly, Steve Jobs will be remembered 100 years from now for the way he created the perfect marriage between art and technology.

Money Versus Beauty

Richard Cummings

money vs beautyToday I am going to have a look at money versus beauty.

A man’s money? A woman’s beauty? Which is more important in a relationship? It’s the money vs beauty debate. Let’s go!

I was inspired to think about this money versus beauty debate after a conversation that recently took place at a dinner party.

My friends told me of a particular New York Craigslist post the other night that I had not seen.

In the post, a “spectacularly beautiful” woman requests a man who earns greater than $500,000 a year.

The Curious Case of Fatherly Fashion

Richard Cummings

Dad Fashion Beer GutThis is a fashion piece. Particularly, fatherly fashion.

Let nobody be confused. I am the last person who should write about fashion. If you meet me one year, and then again ten years later, you might be left with a question: Wasn’t he wearing that same shirt ten years ago?

So, I have no qualifications to write this, except one: being human. And, right now, my human eye is in the airport looking at a father with his three daughters. I can’t help but note that his attire is similar to many fathers.

What Does It Mean To Poke Someone On Facebook

Richard Cummings

what-does-poke-mean-on-facebookMy friend Bob asked me the other day, “What does it mean to poke someone on Facebook?”

Initially, I did not give it much thought and responded, “A poke on Facebook…it’s simply an acknowledgment.”

“But,” Bob doth protested, “do you think sometimes a Poke can be much more than a poke?  Do some Facebook pokes have more significance than others?”

Canadian Lapdancing Teachers [Two teachers, One chair video] 2020 Updates

Richard Cummings

canadian-teacher-lapdance-youtubeTwo Canandian Teachers, who saw fit to give each other a lapdance for their schools “teacher’s performance” have now been fired after the video was widely distributed on the Internet.

I just read about this here on The Huffington Post (see below for the latest updates).

Initially, I thought, “Well, this is a shame, because they are teaching valuable skills to the future generations…especially the girls who do not pay attention in class and will need other means to make top dollar.”

I had a friend at work who, in his pursuit of someone, was rather persistent.  People would somewhat jokingly refer to him as a stalker.  He would say, “I prefer to call it dedication.”

Finding The Perfect Girl…

Richard Cummings

theperfectgirl1I met her on the beginning of my journey from St. Louis, Missouri to the Florida Panhandle.  My parents, who were riding with me, already seemed to know her.

From the moment she said “hello”, I felt something different, new, a sense that we would be together for awhile.  It was an unfamiliar reaction on my part, but one that felt so comfortable.  We invited her along with us on the car ride.

Cracker Barrel Travelin’

Richard Cummings

cracker-barrel-reviewA drive through the deep south affords you plenty of opportunities to eat at Cracker Barrel, so named because the mid-section of all the patrons resembles the shape of a barrel.

These people are normally found at the local All-You-Can-Eat in their hometowns, but on the road Cracker Barrel has won their affections with extremely large portions and a country store that sells baseball caps saying things like, “I Do It In a Mustang.”

How to Enjoy a Movie Twice [or a Mr. Brooks Movie Review]

Richard Cummings

mr-brooks-movie-reviewMy friend “rented” the movie Mr. Brooks last night. The dance clubs were a-calling so we were only able to see the first 15 minutes. We will watch it later today.

I have seen the movie Mr. Brooks…and I haven’t.

I did see it. About 6 months ago, Mr. Brooks was one of the first movies that I saw when I arrived in Uruguay. They promoted it very differently here and made the movie seem much better than the promotion I had seen in the USA.
