The Machinist Starring Chistian Bale

Richard Cummings

the machinist movie reviewTake a look at the picture to your left.  Do you know who that is?  Yes, it’s Christian Bale, the actor who saved the Batman franchise.  In the movie The Machinist, Christian Bale plays an extremely gaunt individual who has not slept in over a year.

In the beginning of The Machinist, we do not know why he has not slept in over a year; in the end, we do.

The question then is this:  Is it worth the time finding out?

Matt Damon Not Playing Jason Bourne

Matt Damon Will Not Star In The Bourne Legacy

I just saw a preview yesterday for the new Jason Bourne movie and noticed one glaring thing: There is no Matt Damon!

Now, I loved all the Jason Bourne movies, especially 1 and 3.  Two was a bit of a dud, but #2 often carries a stench, so we’ll pardon the initial sequel.  Any Jason Bourne movie is like sex:  it’s even good when it’s bad.

The Bourne Ultimatum: Movie Review

Richard Cummings

the-bourne-ultimatum-movie-reviewSarah Silverman sings on You Tube about f*cking Matt Damon.  We know why she did this:  she had just seen The Bourne Ultimatum.

Seriously, you’d leave Jimmy Kimmel for Matt Damon even before The Bourne Ultimatum.  After all, he was also good Will Hunting.  But after The Bourne Ultimatum?  Funny’s good-go Jimmy Kimmel.  But being able to kick anyone’s ass, speak any language, and be an apologetic assassin.  It’s a no-brainer.

A Torturous Movie?

In this Unbroken review, I’ll  tell you why this is a torturous movie that may leave you broken.

There are various predispositions and expectations one has when they enter a movie. Have you seen lots of previews? Do you adore or respect one or many of the actors? Do know what the movie is about before walking in the theater? These pre-sentiments can have a vital impact on what you will think of the final result.

Inception Review: Four Bad Movies For the Price of One!!!

Richard Cummings

inception-reviewIn this Inception Review, I’ll tell you why you need not rush to see this movie if in fact you want to bother with it at all.

I was initially excited about Inception because I like almost all of the actors in it.  I enjoy nearly all of Leonardo DiCaprio movies.   We also have Joseph Gordon-Levitt of 500 Days of Summer fame, and Ellen Page, who played Juno, one of my favorite movies.

Sometimes you should listen to your movie store guy.

I know…many of you go to blockbuster and your movie store guy is a tweaked out teenager who would rather be skateboarding.  Others of you never see your movie store guy because he is now a computer screen that reads Netflix.

What Happens in Vegas…Movie Review

Richard Cummings

what-happen-in-vegas-movie-reviewOn the way to the theatre, I said to my girl friend, “You know one reason why I want to see What Happens in Vegas…I want to see if Cameron Diaz still has IT.”

I remember the first time I saw her…it was in the movie The Mask.  When she appeared onscreen, I was mesmerized.  How could someone have such amazing blue eyes and a smile that inviting?  I was taken aback not only by her beauty but her charisma and playfulness, which was later on full exhibit in There’s Something About Mary.

How to Enjoy a Movie Twice [or a Mr. Brooks Movie Review]

Richard Cummings

mr-brooks-movie-reviewMy friend “rented” the movie Mr. Brooks last night. The dance clubs were a-calling so we were only able to see the first 15 minutes. We will watch it later today.

I have seen the movie Mr. Brooks…and I haven’t.

I did see it. About 6 months ago, Mr. Brooks was one of the first movies that I saw when I arrived in Uruguay. They promoted it very differently here and made the movie seem much better than the promotion I had seen in the USA.

No Country for Old Men: Movie Review

Richard Cummings

no-country-for-old-men-the-movieAfter seeing No Country For Old Men, I was left with this feeling: huh? This movie won the Oscar for best picture?

I saw the movie in Uruguay. Typically, they show English movies in English with Spanish subtitles. I like this. A dubbed movie (which they do on television here) is simply irritating.
