Are IKEA’s Down Alternate Comforter Allergy Free [and hypoallergenic]?

ikea-down-comforter-allergy-freeToday, we are going to be answering the question: “Are IKEA’s Down Alternate Comforter Allergy Free?”

This is very important because we sleep for 1/3 of our lives and we need to know that our comforter will not cause us discomfort — that would be a somewhat ironic.

So I will put on my investigative hat and determine for you whether the IKEA alternate comforter is allergy free!

I love what I do because it is something new everyday and today I am given the opportunity to visit the IKEA store, which is the ultimate. One time, I furnished my whole apartment with quality IKEA stuff at bargain basement prices. So I look forward to this this assignment. Off we go…

Is “The” Capitalized In A Title?

capitalize-the-in-titlesShould the word “The” be capitalized in a title?

I recently received this email from a visitor: “My company has asked me to write several articles and many contain the word ‘the’ in the title. I haven’t studied grammar in years and I can’t remember whether the word The should be capitalized in the title or not. Help!” Thanks, Barb from Sherman Oaks.

why-read

Why Read?

why-read “Why should I read?”, my older nephew asked me as he was waiting for me to finish my book, eager to get to the pool.

“Reading,” I told him “will teach more about the world you live in.”

“Like what?” he asked.

America: The New Mexico?

america-the-new-mexicoThis essay was written in the mid-2000’s when the economies of Europe were thriving and the U.S. was unknowingly on the threshold of one of the biggest financial disasters in our history.

This essay asks an important question that is perhaps even more valid today:  Are our entrenched practices holding us back in the modern economy?

One startling example of this is the advances made in China.  As we read in the article Why California can’t compare with China, “China has built almost 30,000 kilometers of high-speed rail lines since the beginning of the century, while the US has completed virtually none.”

Obviously, our Democratic principles have a lot to do with this.   Rightfully, we are unwilling to stifle the rights of the people for progress.  But we still need to consider workable solutions because, while our people are not being stifled, our country may be.

Enjoy the article below from the early 2000’s.

AdSense Quality Test: A Sure Way to Know Your Web Content is Quality!

There is always quite a bit of news in the AdSense cirlces that you need to have quality material on your AdSense sites.

This news has been brought about because several leading sites that were made especially for AdSense with no real value to the end user have been earmarked for inspection and removal.

This makes sense as Google wants to provide quality content for their advertisers.  If a site does not focus on quality, Google advertisers are guilty by proxy or so the thinking would go.

God and Golf: Forgive Me Father For I Have Sinned

god-golfYesterday, I did not go to church because I was watching the PGA Golf tournament.  One of the ten commandments says:

I am the LORD your God: you shall not have strange Gods before me!

Was I putting golf before God?  Was golf my strange God?

Online Dating: Get Lovin’ While Looking for Love

online-datingOn a recent visit to San Francisco, I learned that a large number of guys do Match.com (as well as Tinder obviously) to get dates.

These are not guys you would consider pathetic or lame but guys who could get dates in the real world.  However, they get even more dates on Match.com and the rewards are rather…instantaneous.

On a Wednesday, my friends and I were setting up a round of golf.  We called Jim to be the fourth player.

“Jim, can you play on Friday?”, we asked.

“Nope,” he responded, “I’m going out with this girl from Match.”  Saturday?  “Got a lunch date from Match and then going out with another one Saturday night.”  Sunday?  “Going on a picnic with a girl from Match.”  After the picnic?  “Got a dinner date.”

A Star is Born Review: Did Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper Make a Great Movie?

star-is-born-reviewIn a Star is Born, we have the actor Bradley Cooper playing a singer and the singer Lady Gaga acting.  Did this role reversal work?  Were they able to pull off a great movie?  Read on to find out!

First, a disclaimer:  I’m not impartial — I am a huge fan of both Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.  I’ve always respected Lady Gaga’s independent spirit and enjoyed her music.  And, Bradley Cooper  has an equally interesting backstory.    Did you know he speaks fluent French and wanted to be Ninja?

And then, I watched the preview for the movie, and BOOM – there’s Dave Chappelle acting.  A singer, an actor, a comedian?  All my favorites!  What’s not to love?  I’m so in.

But, viewer beware, high expectations are often the death knell for a movie.  Even if it’s good, you’re disappointed as you expected great.

I went to see A Star is Born the first day I could.

So what did I think?
